Victoria, BC (ISN) – The Q’s Victoria Track Series second meet of 2012 takes place Saturday, May 26th at the University of Victoria’s Centennial Stadium.
The meet boasts three race distances 800m, 1500m and 5000m, where all levels of runners can compete at their pace in their race. There will be one 1500m and one 5000m open-mixed race each, for all levels. The evening will also feature athletes from the Lower Mainland, Nanaimo, The US and the University of Victoria Vikes, who will compete in the elite races.
Many Vikes team members (women and men) will be competing in the 800m and 1500m races. The Vikes men and women are ranked second and third nationally.
The 800m Women’s race features some Vike team members and potential future Vikes, they are: Rachel Francois, Kendra Pomfret, Grace Annear, Shauna McInnis, Halley Cote, Jenica Moore, Caleigh Bachop
Brittany King, Maureen McCulligh and Chloe Heglund
The 1500m Men’s event features Karl Robertson, Kyle Irvine, Cliff Childs, Josh Clouthier, Doug Oxland, Forrest Simpson, Trevor Schiavone, Jackson Bocksnick, Scott Secco, and Cody Therrien and Roberto Mandje who is traveling from Boulder, Colorado. Mandje will attempt to qualify for the 2012 London Olympic Games in the 1500m event – the main event of the evening.
Shaw TV will be on-site broadcasting the track meet. Also, track-side will be the title sponsor 100.3 the Q! and Chris the Roadie. Synergy Health Management will also be track-side offering physio and massage to all racers. Watch for Frontrunners Westshore as co-owner Nick Walker takes on the 5000m distance! Centennial Stadium’s concession will be open throughout the meet.
The Q’s Victoria Track Series includes seven meets that take place from May 12th to September 1st. Proceeds from the series go to the Mustard Seed Food Bank.
Athletes of all levels can compete for series titles in their respective ten year age groups.
