The 2012 Canadian University/College Championship conducted by Golf Canada is a showcase of the finest University and College programs in Canada. The event includes both male and female competitors and was created with the intention of giving the top collegiate golfers the opportunity for an individual and team national championship title.
“Hosting national championship events is very important to the University of Victoria,” said Clint Hamilton, Director of Vikes Athletics and Recreation. “We are pleased to once again be hosting the 2012 Canadian University/College Championship conducted by Golf Canada at Cordova Bay Golf Course. The opportunity to showcase high-calibre Canadian university and college golf while bringing people from all over our country to our beautiful golf region is tremendous, and we look forward to a great event.”
UVic has won three national men’s golf titles (2003, 2005, 2006) and one women’s crown – won in 2008 at Cordova Bay. The Vikes have also won one NAIA men’s divisional title (2010). Last year, UBC edged UVic to win the women’s team title at the Royal Ashburn Golf Club near Toronto by just one stroke, while senior VikeAnne Balser was second overall. The Humber College Hawks from Toronto won the men’s title, while UVIc was fourth.
