Victoria United kept their undefeated steak alive after a 1-1 draw with Coquitlam Metro-Ford, Saturday afternoon at Royal Athletic Park.
However, Victoria United’s four game winning streak came to an end.
Coquitlam Metro-Ford came out with some great pace to start off the match, scoring 6 minutes into the first half with a goal by #10 Jules Chopin off a corner kick. This early goal gave the young, speedy Coquitlam team some influential confidence to start off the game.
Victoria United’s calm, possession style game, took some time to build up, but was able to equalize the score at the 41st minute with a glorious individual effort by # 5 Cooper Barry. Barry zigzagged his way around two Coquitlam defenders inside the 18 yard box and placed a left foot shot into the bottom corner for his third goal of the season.
Both sides kept even throughout the second half as each team had numerous scoring chances, but were unable to capitalize on the opportunities. Victoria goal keeper Hide Ozawa and Coquitlam keeper Dillan Fogliato both had to make some key break-away saves in the second half to keep the score locked at 1-1.
