BURNABY (ISN) – The Canadian senior men’s national team will be scrumming down against Georgia in just over three weeks time at Swangard Stadium in Burnaby.

Ranked no. 15 in the world, the Georgian national team has never ventured onto Canadian soil. The two sides have only ever clashed twice in full international Test matches the first of which was a resounding 42-10 victory for Canada in June of 2009. A year later on their 2010 Fall Tour, Canada fell 22-15 in front of 25,000 fans at the Georgian National Stadium in Tbilisi.

“[Georgia] are a team on the rise just below Canada in the IRB rankings who is benefiting by having the majority of their players playing in the French elite professional competitions,” Canadian Head Coach Kieran Crowley said. “The last time we played them in 2010, they defeated us so we certainly have a challenge in front of us.”
