Victoria, BC (ISN) – With a third of the 2012 WLA Season in the books the Victoria Shamrocks remain undefeated with a perfect 5-0 record and are now ranked number 1 in the nation according to the Subway Restaurants Lacrosse Talk National Rankings released Monday.
The Shamrocks will take on rival Salmonbellies in New West on Thursday before hosting the Burnaby Lakers at Bear Mountain Arena on Friday.
According to the Subway Restaurants Lacrosse Talk National Rankings, the Victoria Shamrocks have moved up a spot from second place last week to first overall for the week of June 11, leapfrogging the defending Mann Cup Champions the Brampton Excelsiors.
The Shamrocks overtook the top spot by virtue of a 10-6 win at home last Wednesday versus the Coquitlam Adanacs that saw the ‘Rocks push their record to a perfect 5-0 with a third of the season now in the books. Brampton has opened their young season with one win and one loss, dropping them to third in the rankings behind the Six Nations Chiefs, who now occupy the second spot with a 2-0 record.

Langley, Burnaby, New West, and Peterborough make up the rest of the National Top 7 respectively. The Burnaby Lakers were able to maintain their standing in the fifth spot compiling a record of 3-2-2 while the New West Salmonbellies dropped from fourth to the sixth spot with a 3-3-0 record.
Victoria will take on the Salmonbellies Thursday night in New West before returning home to host the Burnaby Lakers at Bear Mountain Arena on Friday night at 7:45pm.
