VICTORIA (ISN) – In somewhat surprising fashion, the Victoria Highlanders have announced Wednesday that they have terminated the coaching contract with Head Coach Ian Bridge.

No immediate reason was given for his dismissal, however the Highlanders in a brief press release, thanked him for his coaching services for the past three years and acknowledged his role as a Canadian Soccer legend and a Victoria Soccer hero, noting “We are sad to see him go but wish him well in the future.”

Steve Simonson, Reserves Men’s Head Coach, will step up to fill Ian Bridge’s Head Coach position with the PDL Men’s Team for the remainder of the 2012 Season.

The next home game for the Men’s side takes place 7pm on Sat, June 16th at Royal Athletic Park.
