Huskie Track & Field Captain Souter Named to Academic All-America Team

(ISN) – University of Saskatchewan Huskie cross country and track & field captain Jodi Souter was named to the 2012 Capital One Academic All-America College Division women’s cross country/track & field third team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

The Capital One College Division Academic All-America women’s cross country/track & field teams are comprised of student-athletes from NAIA, Canadian and two-year institutions.

Souter held a 3.36 GPA as a Graduate Student majoring in molecular biology, while captaining both the cross country and track & field teams. The fifth-year was named a Second Team All-Canadian and a Canada West First Team All-Star in cross country in 2011, as well as won a gold (3000m) and silver medal (1500m) to help the women’s track & field team capture their third Canada West Championship in four seasons. She won the Canada West & CIS Student Athlete Community Award, as well as the Huskie Athletics Valerie Girsberger Award given to the female athlete who best combines athletics, academics and community service.

Milika Tuivanuavou of Fresno Pacific University was named the Academic All-America of the Year.
