Victoria, BC – The Victoria Shamrocks will look to avenge their first loss of the season at the hands of New West when they take on the Salmonbellies at Bear Mountain Arena Friday night.

The ‘Rocks and ‘Bellies are among the fiercest rivals in the nation and with first place in the WLA on the line, this match promises to be one fans won’t want to miss. Face off goes at 7:45pm.

The 5-2 Shamrocks have all the motivation they need to explode out of the gates on Friday as they host the team that halted their brilliant 5-0 run to start the 2012 season. The Shamrocks had a bit of a hiccup last weekend, dropping back-to-back overtime games in just over a 24 hour period. The Green and White narrowly lost 14-12 in New West and then were edged out 10-9 in a heart breaker the next night at home to Burnaby; but with a chance to grab sole possession of the WLA’s top spot in front of the home town faithful the ‘Rocks have a premier opportunity for redemption against the Salmonbellies and get back on the winning track.

New West meanwhile is in a slightly more desperate situation then the Rocks, sitting two points behind Victoria with a 4-4-0 record and one more game played, the up and down ‘Bellies will be looking for pivotal points at the Bear to keep pace with the pack at the top of the standings. As it currently sits, Victoria, Langley, and Burnaby are all tied with ten points, though Victoria has played the least amount of games with 7.

The club wishes to remind fans that Friday night’s game versus New West will be Victoria Shamrocks “Salute to Minor Lacrosse” Night and the Inaugural Minor Lacrosse Banner Parade, as such, the club is expecting higher than normal attendance and is encouraging fans to purchase tickets online at and to arrive earlier than normal.
