Nanaimo (ISN) – The Nanaimo Buccaneers are pleased to announce that long time Nanaimo Minor Hockey products Garrett Dunlop and Daniel Foglietta have been carded by the Buccaneers and will be part of the team for the 2012/2013 season.
Dunlop has been playing hockey for 12 years which has included Nanaimo Minor Hockey rep teams from Atom to Midget, Island Selects Spring Hockey Team and the North Island Silvertips. He has been to three provincial championships in minor hockey and last spring made the U17 BC Cup finals. Last season with the Silvertips he won the Coaches award and was one of the leading scorers. Dunlop is a very competitive player, and he is an honor role student at Dover Bay Secondary where he has been named Athlete of the year three times.
Foglietta is another long time Nanaimo Minor Hockey product who has played competitively since 2005. Last year he captained the Nanaimo MHL Midget Tier 1 Clippers and was an affiliate player for the Kerry Park Islanders in the VIJHL. Foglietta is a strong, physical player. He led the midget team in points for two consecutive years, 2011 and 2012 and consistently made the honour roll throughout high school.
The Buccaneers are pleased to sign two quality forwards in Foglietta and Dunlop. Both players had outstanding spring camps. “We expect both players to bring offense to the team and leadership both on and off the ice”, says Glen Smith, Director of Player Personnel.
And when asked about the players, Head Coach Brad Knight had this to say. “We are pleased with both as athletes, kids and players within our dressing room. From an organizational point of view, they embody what we are looking for to be successful in the hockey club’s first season. We welcome both the players and their families to the Buccaneer Organization.”
