Swift Current’s Black and Gordon Taken in 2012 Draft


Swift Current, SK – Swift Current Bronco forward, Graham Black was selected 135th overall (5th round) by the New Jersey Devils and forward Coda Gordon was selected 165th overall (6th Round) by the Calgary Flames, in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft at the CONSOL Energy Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

In 71 games played last season, Black, a 6′, 173-pound native of Regina, SK recorded 17 goals and 50 points (17-33-50) in his rookie campaign with the Broncos. He wrapped up the season sitting 10th amongst all WHL rookies in points (50).

Black was ranked 83rd amongst all North American skaters in NHL Central Scouting’s Final Draft Rankings.

Gordon was ranked 61st amongst North American skaters in NHL Central Scouting’s Final Draft Rankings.

The 6’1″, 179-pound native of Cochrane, AB ranked second amongst the team in goals with 30 and tallied 53 points in 66 games played this past season. He also led all WHL rookies in power play goals (15), second in power play points (27), fourth in goals (30) and eighth in overall points (53).

He is the fifth Bronco in franchise history to be drafted by the Calgary Flames.
