Victoria, BC
– The Victoria Shamrocks will hit the road this weekend looking to clear the logjam at the top Western Lacrosse Association standings when they hop the pond to take for a two game stint with first place rivals Burnaby and Langley.

The ‘Rocks, Lakers, and Thunder all share possession of the top spot with 12 points each although Victoria has games in hand versus both teams. Victoria will take on Burnaby Friday night at 7:45pm, and Langley on Saturday night at 7:00pm, both games will be streamed live online.

The 6-2 Shamrocks are looking to capitalize on a surge of momentum after a huge come from behind win versus arch nemesis the New Westminster Salmonbellies at Bear Mountain Arena last Friday. The ‘Rocks saw New West put together a run of five straight goals and kept the green and white off the board for over a period of play before the home town boys roared back with a dominant streak that saw them score seven straight goals en route to a 12-10 decision over the ‘Bellies.

Burnaby’s trip to the top of the standings has had many ups and downs, with the streaky Lakers managing to grab points wherever they can, compiling a 5-4-2 record thus far. The Lakers have played 11 games already this season compared to Victoria’s 8, and will need to come up big against the ‘Rocks if they hope to stay in the picture at the top of the standings while last year’s WLA champions, the Langley Thunder have compiled a modestly better record of 6-4. The Thunder have played 10 games, 2 more than the Shamrocks and will be looking to capitalize on a possibly fatigued Shamrocks club who will be suiting for two games in a 24 hour span. Both games will be streamed live online PPV and can be accessed through the clubs website.

Also, it’s Christmas in July when the Shamrocks return home to take on the Langley Thunder on Friday July 6th at Bear Mountain arena with donations being accepted for CFAX Santa’s Anonymous. Tickets can be purchased online at Catch up on all the latest in Shamrocks Nation by checking out the team’s website at, and join the Nation on Facebook or follow on Twitter @ShamrocksNation.
