Victoria (ISN) – The Highlanders Men’s reserve side convincingly beat local rivals Victoria United 4-0, with Adam Ravenhill netting all four goals.

On Wednesday night the Highlanders Reserve men’s side faced off with Victoria United in glorious conditions at Hampton Park.

United had the first chance of the game when they hit the cross bar only three minutes in. However that would be United’s best chance of the half as the Highlanders took control of the game and Adam Ravenhill put them in the lead fifteen minutes in.

The Highlanders continued to press the United defense, and Ravenhill extended their lead in the 30th minute. Only moments later Ravenhill completed his hatrick, netting the ball off a cross that came in from a highlanders free-kick. The half ended with Victoria United down three nil.

Not content with a three goal lead the Highlanders came out strong in the second half as they looked to close out any hope United may have of forging a comeback. Ten minutes into the second half Highlanders Josh Heard, made a break down the right side of the field crossing the ball into the box to meet Ravenhill who put it away for his fourth goal of the night, vanishing any hope United may have had to revive the game.

With a comfortable four goal lead the Highlanders took their foot off the gas a little and subbed out Ravenhill for a well deserved break. Victoria United had a few good chances towards the end of the second half but failed to capitalise on their opportunities. The game ended 4-0 in favour of the Highlanders.

The Highlanders reserve side travel to Vancouver this Saturday to take on Khalsa, while the Highlanders first team take on the Portland Timbers at Royal Athletic Park on Saturday night.
