Nanaimo, BC (ISN) – The Nanaimo Buccaneers are gearing up for their first season in the Vancouver Island Junior B Hockey League and it appears that the core of the team will have a strong local presence as the team has announced the signing of three more local players to the team.
Riley Medves, an 18 year old Nanaimo Minor Hockey product, is the team’s first signed goaltender. Medves has been playing hockey in Nanaimo since 2002 and in goal since 2004. His last two seasons were with the North Island Silvertips. At 5’11, 160 lbs he is a quick, technically sound goaltender and a solid performer. Medves graduated this year and has been an honour roll student throughout his high school years.
Corey Renwick, is 17 years old, 6’1 and 173 lbs and will add strength to the Buccaneers’ offensive lineup. Renwick lists Nanoose Bay as home and he has been part of the Oceanside Minor Hockey program since 2002, taking a two year break to attend Pursuit of Excellence in Kelowna prior to returning to the Island for the 2011/2012 season with the North Island Silvertips.
Dylan Moore, is 19 years old and 5’11, 195 lbs. He is another graduate from the Nanaimo Minor Hockey program. Playing for the Silvertips in 2009/2010, and the Oceanside Generals in 2010/11, Dylan has had experience at the junior level. Dylan’s performance at Spring Camp impressed both coaches and we look forward to him being a leader in the dressing room – and on the ice.
Medves, Renwick and Moore join Garret Dunlop & Daniel Foglietta for the Nanaimo Buccaneers inaugural season. The coaching and management staff are pleased to welcome them and their families to the Buccaneers!
