Victoria, BC (ISN) – The semi-finals of the Victoria Senior C Men’s Lacrosse League took place Tuesday night and it was the Firefighters and Blazers who will be advancing to the championship final that will take place Thursday night at 7:30 pm at the Panorama recreation Centre.
In the opening semi-final, the Firefighters received three goals each from Trevor Walton and Tyler Heavenor to defeat the Luckies 9-5.
The game was close through the first two periods, tied 2-2 after one, and 5-5 after two, but the Firefighters would score 4 unanswered third period goals, including 2 by Heavenor, to pull away for the win.

For the Luckies, Matt Holland and Josh Nelson would lead the way with two goals each, while the Firefighters Chris McKay added three assists in the winning effort.

In the second semi-final, the Blazers would build an early 4-1 lead and never trail in the game, holding 6-3 and 11-6 leads at the intermissions, eventually moving on to a 13-8 victory.

While the Jokers were inspired late in the second period, by a last minute, end-to-end scoring rush by their goaltender Brennan Gummer, it would not be enough as they could muster only 2 third period goals, both of which were countered by two from the Blazers.

Leading the way for the Blazers were Colton Borthwick and Lee Park with 3 goals apiece, while Cody Boon added 4 assists. For the Jokers, Colin Bell led the way with 3 goals while Tacho Garcia and Gummer added three assists.
