Victoria, BC – The Victoria Shamrocks won’t have much time to celebrate Tuesday’s huge win versus New West as they host Maple Ridge Friday night at 7:45 pm at Bear Mountain Arena. A win versus the Burrards could be crucial as they are in a three way race for second place coming down the stretch drive for the WLA playoffs.
The Shamrocks, now 8-6, sit with 16 points; good enough for a share of second place in the WLA with just four games remaining in the season. The Rocks are tied in points and games played with Both Coquitlam and Burnaby who play each other on Friday night, meaning one of those teams will drop a position before the weekend. With that in mind, Victoria will be looking to pick up crucial points down the stretch, starting with a win versus the Burrards, owners of the WLA’s worst record.
Maple Ridge, meanwhile, maintains a 2-12-1 record and will look to prevent a season series sweep at the hands of the green and white on Friday. With the playoffs out of sight for the Burrards, it will be pride points on the line as they face former teammate, Derek Lowe and company. The Burrards are a paltry 0-6-1 on the road, which, when compared to Victoria’s home record of 5-2, looks to be a good sign for the ‘Rocks heading into this important match-up.
Also on Friday night, Bear Mountain Arena will play host to the “Mascot Summer Games.” Many local mascots will be in the house as they compete for mascot supremacy just ahead of the London Summer Olympics.
