Langley, BC (ISN) – On Saturday night at the Langley Events Centre, Victoria made amends of sorts, for a self admitted sub par performance the night before, by defeating the Langley Thunder 11-10 in overtime.
Victoria threatened to run away with the game early in the second period, when a goal by Corey Small at 3:38 put them up 6-3. Langley however had different plans and tied the game 8-8 at 6:30 of the 3rd period. The teams finished regulation time tied 10-10. That set the stage for Corey Small, who scored the winner at 3:38 of the overtime period.
The three stars on the game were: 1. Jeff Shattler 2-2 (VIC) 2. Athan Iannucci 4-0 (LANG) 3. Derek Lowe 2-4 (VIC). Lowe’s point production since he joined the Shamrocks in a trade, has paid hude dividends for his new team.
Other scorers for Victoria were: Corey Small 3-2, Matt Yager 2-0 and Karsen Leung 0-3. Additional scorers for Langley were: Shayne Jackson 2-3 and Andy Turner 1-4. The Thunder’s two big signings for this year, Garrett Billings and Lewis Ratcliff both had other commitments and were not available for the game.
Shots on the game were 45-44 for Langley. The power plays were 2-6 for Victoria and 3-6 for Langley. Chris Levis (35-45) was given the win in net for Victoria. Brodie MacDonald (24-29 in 47:39 minutes) was tagged with the loss. MacDonad came in at 22:21 of the second period, he replaced Steve Fryer, who was chased after allowing 6 goals on 15 shots.
