Victoria, BC (ISN) – The semi-finals of the Lower Island Mixed Fastball League got undeway Saturday, with the Ross Bay Pub Vipers defeating the Shark Club 10-4 at Heywood Park in Victoria.
In other action, Barts took on the A’s but the score was not available at press time.
Craig Park started as pitcher for the Shark Club and threw some sizzling pitches during the first inning but then had some trouble, allowing 4 runs on no hits in the 2nd inning – hitting one player and walking the rest. All 4 Viper runners arrived at home plate on steals due to wild pitches.

With the Shark Club batting in the bottom of the 3rd, they would load the bases with no outs, but would fail to score. The 4th and 5th innings saw good hitting and a home run from each team.
In the 6th inning, the Shark Club had a series of doubles and scored 2 runs as a result. This ended the inning with the score 7-3 for the Vipers.

The Vipers would add 3 more runs in the top of the 7th inning, while the Shark Club would resond with only 1, making the final score 10-4 for the Vipers.
The Lower Island Mixed Fastball League (LIMFL) is part of a non-profit, competitive league based out of Heywood Park
in Victoria, BC Canada.
Team members volunteer annually to make up the Executive Committee, who run and organize the league. A current total of 8 teams participate in the league, which runs from May to July. Teams participate in tournaments throughout South Vancouver Island throughout the season and are active in fundraising for their teams, sponsors and league.

This year in League play, the Athletics stormed to the League title with a 17-3 record. The Shark Club finished second at 15-5.
Playoffs continue this week with Game 2 of the Barts and A’s series going Monday at 6:30pm and game 2 of the Vipers and Shark club series going Tuesday at 6:30 pm. Game 3 in each series, if needed, will go later in the week.
The Championship series takes place on Friday and Sunday July 27 and 29th.
