VANCOUVER – British Columbia’s U17 men’s provincial team will depart for San Francisco on Wednesday morning for the third and final leg of the TrueBlue BC-NorCal Cup.

The partnership between the two North American rugby hotbeds – British Columbia and the Northern California Youth Rugby Association – will see a home and away series between the two sides contested each summer.

The NorCal All Stars went 1-1 on their tour of BC in June, falling 36-34 to the BC U17 Mainland squad in Vancouver on June 19th and then rallied back for a 46-39 win over the BC U17 Island squad two days later. Scheduled for 6:00pm at Treasure Island, Ca, the third match will determine the series with the winner retaining the inaugural TrueBlue BC NC Cup until next summer.

On Sunday, July 29th, the BC U17s will then travel to Dixon to compete in a youth invitational seven-a-side competition. Dixon is home to the U19 US high school national champions Dixon Rugby Club, a region where rugby is rapidly expanding.

The NCYRA is the USA Rugby sanctioned youth organizer for Northern California, and is one of the largest State Based Rugby Organizations (SBRO) in the United States. The NCYRA is comprised of more than 90 clubs, 200 teams, 4,000 players (both boys and girls), all playing in 13 divisions ranging from co-ed Under-8 through to high school varsity. The NCYRA stretches from Kings County up to the Oregon border.
