Victoria, BC – The Victoria Shamrocks will have two cracks at the Timbermen to clinch a playoff berth as they begin a home and home series versus Nanaimo. Victoria will host their island rivals at Bear Mountain Arena Friday before heading up the rock for the away portion of the series.

The Rocks need just two points to secure a playoff spot in their eventful drive for the WLA playoffs. Faceoff goes at 7:45.

The 9-6 Shamrocks need just one more win to clinch a fifth consecutive WLA playoff berth and will look to get that done on home soil with a win versus Nanaimo Friday night. The Rocks have missed the post-season once since 2005; and with potential wins on Friday and Saturday could solidify their third place standing even more should Langley and/or Coquitlam falter down the stretch. It is a nod to parity in the league that with just two games remaining in the season not one team has a set playoff position.

Nanaimo, meanwhile, has seen their playoff hoped evaporate by virtue of a 6-9-1 record that has them set in sixth place in the WLA and a starring role as possible spoilers for the Shamrocks playoffs hopes. Despite a decent 5-3-1 start to the year, the Timbermen struggled to find their footing, dropping six out of their last seven matches to eliminate them from the playoff race.

Also on Friday night, Bear Mountain Arena will host a Tailgate Party and Fan Appreciation Night, presented by 100.3 the Q. The celebrations kickoff at 6:30 and fans in attendance will be treated to Triple O Burgers from White Spot, drinks, and music form the Q’s Rock mobile.
