Victoria, BC (ISN) – The BC Baseball Vancouver Island Zone Playoffs for the Pee Wee ‘A’ division got underway on Thursday at Carnarvon and Esquimalt Lions Parks. The Victoria Tigers, Ladysmith Cannons, Victoria Wildcats and Comox all opened the tournament with victories.
The tournament features 10 teams from the Island, split into two pools. Pool A is comprised of the Victoria Tigers, Victoria Mustangs, Ladysmith, Saltspring and Nanaimo while Pool B is Victoria Wildcats, Port Alberni, Lake Cowichan, Comox and Campbell River.

The top 2 teams will then play a crossover game with #1 from Pool A taking on #2 from Pool B and #1 from Pool B taking on #2 from Pool B with the winners advancing to the Championship game.

Thursday’s action saw the Victoria Tigers down the Victoria Mustangs 11-2 and Ladysmith bettered Saltspring 9-4 at Carnarvon Park while over at Esquimalt Lions the Victoria Wildcats thumped Port Alberni 21-1 and Comox out scored Lake Cowichan 11-1.

Action resumes today at both Parks with games at 9am, Noon, 3pm and 6pm this schedule repeats on Saturday. Sunday sees games at 10am and 2pm again at both fields with the Championship game being held at Esquimalt Lions Park.
