2012 Little _League_Canadians

Edmonton (ISN) – Vancouver’s Hastings All Stars have compiled a perfect 5-0 record in round robin play and are the overwhelming favourite to win the Canadian Little League Championship being played this week in Edmonton.

The team defeated the Lethbridge Southwest All Stars by a score of 15-0 Wednesday in another dominant performance.

They will play the Glace Bay Colonels in the semi-finals, who will need to find a way to counter the potent Hastings offense that scored 19 runs in a shortened game (4 innings) on Monday. The Colonels however, were the only team to score a run against Hastings in the round robin stage.

The Ontario High Park Braves will meet the Lethbridge Southwest All Stars in the other semi-final. Both games will played Friday with Thursday being a designated rain-out day.

The host Millwoods White Sox sit at the bottom of the table after losing 4-3 to the Quebec NDG Lynx in a rain shortened game. The NDG Lynx jumped out to an early 3-1 lead in the 1st inning and the White Sox were able to mount a comeback in the 4th but the weather would determine the final outcome of the game.

The weather has not been kind to the host team, with three of their games having been affected. With both teams out of contention, they will meet again Friday to determine 5th place in the overall standings.
