Surrey, BC (ISN) – To say it has been a good year for the Victoria Womens Fastball League’s (VWFL) Svee Unit team would be a bit of an understatement, as they capped off an amazing season last weekend by capturing the Gold at the 2012 BC Senior C Women’s Softball Provincials in Surrey.

The win made it a triple crown for SVEE unit, who a few weeks ago, swept the Wild in the VWFL playoff championships, and who went undefeated in the league’s Sue B Annual Memorial Tournament on the July 28th weekend by going undefeated and beating Diamond Fusion 7-1 in the final.

The team also cruised through the Provincials in Surrey – their first ever appearance at the Senior level – with an undefeated record, winning 7-0 in the semi-finals – thanks to a complete game shut-out from Chantal Desmarais – and then defeating the Chilliwack Valley Cats 4-1 in the final.

In the final game, Brianna Jones threw a complete game 5 hitter with 2 strikeouts.  Offensively, Kayla Willis hit a 2-out double in the 1st inning and knocked in a run, while Kala Halasz hit a 2-out single and knocked in two runs in the second. Kelsey Elder had a sac fly in the 5th knocking in the final run.
