Langfrod, BC (ISN) – This Saturday Night, Western Speedway in conjunction with Freedom Rent To Own will present Fan Appreciation Night that will feature The Keg Steakhouse & Bar Late Model Driver Challenge.

The Late Models will run Twin 50 lap Main Events, at the fast 4/10ths paved oval in Langford. In addition to the Late Models, the Island Series Stock Cars, SDL IMS4 Mini Stocks and the Island Dwarf Car Club will also be in action. Admission for Saturday Night is just $6.

This will be the third night of competition in The Keg Late Model Drivers Challenge as Victoria’s Wade Bland leads the point standings with 336 points, second place with 323 points is Victoria driver Gary Smith. Rory Smith is only three points back of Gary Smith with 320 points. Last year’s Late Model Champion Jason Terasenko currently holds down the fourth position in the points with 310 points, Darrell Midgley rounds out the top five with 293 points.

The Island Series Stock Cars has a new points leader for the first time this year as Kyle Cottam has taken over the points lead by a slim six points over Duncan’s Cody Aumen 700 to 694, Aumen has had some bad luck in the last couple of races allowing Cottam to overtake him for the points lead. Dave Reside holds down the third spot with 643 points and is coming off his first main event win of the season at the last point’s race on July 7th. Rookie Brandon Steen has moved into the fourth position 26 points behind Reside at 617 points. Mike Derepentigny rounds out the top five with 577 points.

The SDL Bins Mini Stocks will also be in action, and there is a new points leader as well, Jeremy Waksel leads the point standings with 1013 points, fifty one more than the team of Glen and Gord Percival who have 962 points. Former Champion Gilles Parenteau has moved into third position with 928 points, followed by the winner of the last main event at Western, Justin Woodske who has 864 points. Sean Constantine is in fifth with 855 points.

The Island Dwarfs Cars sees Ike Armitage leading the points with 194, closely followed by Mike Meeres with 178. Mike Schott is forty eight points back in third position with 139, followed by Dave Emerson with 111 points, Bob Greenway rounds out the top five with 82 points.

The front gates open at 4:30 pm, qualifying at 5:30 and racing at 6:30 pm.

The next event at Western Speedway will be Daffodil Cup on Friday August 17th & 18th that will feature the top Winged Sprint Car drivers in the Northwest. The WILROC Non Wing Sprint Cars will also see action as well as the Old Time Racers. Advance Tickets are available at the Market on Millstream.
