Edmonnton, AB (ISN) – Team BC, represented by the Hastings All-Stars from Vancouver, completed an amazing undefeated run at the Canadian Little League Championships in Edmonton by defeating the Lethbridge Southwest All-Stars 11-1 in the championship final.

Hasting’s will now move on to the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania august 16-26th.

After a scoreless first inning, in Hasting’s 11-1 win Saturday afternoon, both teams scored single runs in the second inning with BC’s Thomas Neal hitting a solo home run, and Lethbridge scoring their run when Wyatt Tomalty hit a triple and scored after a Blake Braun singled in the run to right field.

After both teams failed to score in the third inning, Lethbridge probably felt they found a way to shut down a team that had outscored its opponents 58-1 in the five game round robin and who defeated Glace Bay, NS 5-0 in the semis.  However that feeling would be short-lived, as British Columbia blew it open in the fourth scoring 10 runs that included home runs by Steven Moretto and Thomas Neal’s second of the game.

Lethbridge failed to score in their half of the fourth inning, which meant British Columbia won the Canadian Championship as a result of the 10 run mercy rule.

The Hastings All Stars will go on to represent Canada at the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania from August 16-26. This is the 8th consecutive Canadian Little League Championship for British Columbia teams.
