Langford, BC (ISN) – The Westshore Rebels downed the Kamloops Broncos 34-21 in BC Junior Football League action on Saturday, extending their winning streak to two games and improving their season record to 2-1.
Rebels quarterback Mark Black tossed 4 touchdowns including a 30 plus yard opening drive Touchdown pass to Eric Eggleston. Quinn Van Gylswyk would add three more points for the Rebels as he nailed a 43 yard kick on the Rebels second offensive drive. The Broncos would make it 10-6 before the half as they added 2 field goals.

Mark Black opened the second half the same way he started the game with an opening drive touchdown pass to running back Greg Morris. Black would make his 3rd touchdown pass of the night with a short toss to Fikreiwnet Yitna which made it 24-6.

Penalties would be costly for the Rebels giving the Broncos good field position and the chance for a comeback as they closed the led to 24-13 with over 7 minutes remaining in the 4th quarter. Mark Black would get his 4th touchdown pass of the game with a 25 yard pass to Greg Morris for his second touchdown of the game. The Broncos would score a late touchdown making it 34-21 final.

The Rebels Defensive crew was also very impressive, stopping the Broncos on several drives. Wyatt Gray was sturdy and earned himself the Mckinnon Coaching Player of the Game. On the Offensive line Rob Smith was an absolute monster making some bone crunching blocks and allowing room for the Rebels running backs to make several key first downs. Smith would earn himself the Top Dog Pizza Rebels Player of the Game.

The 2-1 Rebels will look to extend their winning streak to 3 as they play another home game next Sunday August 29th, against the hungry Chilliwack Huskers. Kickoff will be at 2:00PM at Bear Mountain Stadium. Tickets are available at the gate with adult tickets being only $12 and student and senior tickets only $9.
