KENNEWICK, WA – Tri-City Americans Governor/General Manager Bob Tory announced last week that the team has acquired 19-year-old forward Philip Tot from the Lethbridge Hurricanes in exchange for a 5th round pick in the 2013 Bantam Draft and a 2nd round pick in the 2014 Draft.

Tot, a 6’2 200-pound left wing from Calgary, Alberta, has spent his entire WHL career with the Hurricanes, who drafted him 18th overall in the 2008 Bantam Draft. In three years, Tot has compiled 23 goals, 76 points and 90 penalty minutes in 175 WHL games. Tot is coming off a career year in 2011-12, in which he notched personal bests in games played (61), goals (14), assists (31) and points (45), while finishing third in overall team scoring. Tot, with a ‘late birthday’, went undrafted in the 2012 NHL Draft after being ranked 100th among North American skaters in Central Scouting Services’ final rankings.

“With a shortage of quality ’93-born forwards in the league this year, I felt that this was a trade we had to pursue,” explained Tory. “We graduated a lot of quality forwards from last year’s club and to be able to add a top-6 forward to our mix in mid-August is huge for our club.”

Tory continued by saying that “(Philip) brings size and skill to our line-up. With experience playing on Lethbridge’s top line and on special teams, I look forward to Phil making an immediate impact on our club.”
