Langford Rebels

From Brad Olender, Proud Rebels Father

Victoria (ISN) – The softball success of Victoria based teams continued earlier this month as the Langford Rebels returned from the U18 Canadian National Women’s Fastpitch Championships in Montreal with a Bronze Medal for their efforts.

The Midget A Rebels, aka THE DIRTY DOZEN, had a fantastic ten days in Montreal at the tournament.  After going a disappointing 1 and 7 in the round robin, this first year team overcame all adversity and surpassed expectations winning their first playoff game against the top team from Alberta to advance to play Sunday, August 19th the final day of the Championships. The girls ended up playing in the bronze game of the Bowl division against the Host team Quebec Rebelles. Tied after 2 innings the girls came out in the 5th to score 5 runs leading the game 7 – 2.  The Rebelles came right back in the 6th and scored 4 runs. Going into the 7th the score 7 – 6, Langford held them to win the Bronze Medal of the Bowl Division.

The girls would like to thank all their sponsors and supporters that made it possible for them to have this wonderful experience that will last them a lifetime.
