Kelowna (ISN) – The Kelowna Rockets open the Western Hockey League exhibition season this weekend, playing two games against the rival Vancouver Giants.

The Rockets will head to Vancouver for a Friday night tilt to open the WHL preseason before the two teams tangle again on Saturday at Prospera Place in Kelowna at 7:05 p.m.  The games come after the Rockets broke training camp on Thursday night with the final scrimmage of camp.

The Rockets will dress of mix of veterans and rookies in each game this weekend with the team still carrying extra bodies heading into the six-game preseason. The Rockets released several young players over the last two days at training camp, which ended with a spirited game on Thursday night.

Friday the team will practice before heading to Vancouver for the game. (7 p.m. Ladner).

The Rockets will play three home preseason games: Sept. 1 against Vancouver, Sept. 8 against Victoria and Sept. 15 vs. Tri-City.
