Victoria, BC (ISN) The Victoria Grizzlies closed out the 2012–2013 pre-season on Sunday afternoon with an impressive 5-2 victory over the Powell River Kings at Bear Mountain Arena.
The new look Grizzlies, with only 5 players from last years team in the line up, opened the scoring in the first period when Gerry Fitzgerald fired a shot from the right faceoff circle that found the back of the net.

Chase Kaiser converted a Turner Lawson pass to put the Grizzlies up 2-0 after 1 period of play.
Blake Thompson fed a pass to Gerry Fitzgerald who was alone at the left side of the net and he made no mistake putting Victoria up 3-0.

Brady Rouleau, who had a strong game between the pipes, would give way to Michael Stilidiadis after 30 minutes of play.
The Kings mounted a comeback in the 3rd with a pair of quick goals from JP Villeneuve and Luke Norgard to make things interesting at 3-2, but Dante Hahn put an end to their momentum when he bulge the twine to put the Grizzlies back up by 2.

Garret Skrbich would round out the scoring finding the top corner from in the slot to preserve the 5-2 victory. With the win the Grizzlies finish the pre-season with a 2-1-1 record.

Victoria will now have 5 days to prepare for the regular season that sees them on the road against the Coquitlam Express next Friday and the Port Alberni Bulldogs next Saturday.
The Grizzlies will be back at Bear Mountain Arena for their home opener, against the Powell River Kings, on Sept. 14 at 7:15 pm.
