Victoria’s Cory Renfrew sits in 3rd Heading Into Final Event

The 2012 Canadian Tour season comes to a close this week at the inaugural Great Waterway Classic, an exciting new event set along the picturesque St. Lawrence River in Gananoque, Ontario. A demanding, Muskoka-like track in Smuggler’s Glen Golf Course hosts a star-studded international field looking to finish off the season with a bang.

Several big storylines a featured this week, chief among them the race for the top two spots on the Order of Merit – and the second stage PGA TOUR Q-School exemptions that come with them. Matt Hill currently holds the top spot by $5,500 over Michael Gligic, who sits ahead of Cory Renfrew by just over $1,800. Several big names join the field this week, including 2011 PGA TOUR member Chris Baryla, multiple Tour winner David Morland IV and the suddenly-famous Eugene Wong, who followed up his epic win at the Canadian Tour Championship – Wong holed his approach to the 72nd hole to win by a shot – with a win at last week’s Vancouver Golf Tour’s, Vancouver Open. Other big names in the field include young guns Nick Taylor, Will Strickler and Roger Sloan as well as veteran multi-time winners Derek Gillespie, Brian Unk and Wes Heffernan.
