Victoria (ISN) – This weekend, Sep. 7 to 9 will find the Victoria Grizzlies competing in their first regular season games as part of The BCHL Showcase at the Prospera Centre in Chilliwack BC. The Grizzlies take on the Coquitlam Express at 4 p.m. on Friday Sep. 7 and the Alberni Valley Bulldogs at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday Sep. 8.

While the temperature outside doesn’t exactly scream hockey, four points are on the line for each team including the Victoria Grizzlies at the inaugural BCHL Showcase presented by Save-On-Foods.

If that wasn’t enough motivation, about 100 scouts from the college and pro ranks are expected to attend this hockey feeding frenzy so players know it could be their best shot at catching someone’s eye.

If you’re not familiar, the Showcase event brings all 16 BCHL clubs to one location, the Chilliwack Chiefs and Prospera Centre doing the honours this year, for two games apiece that count to the regular season standings.

Vancouver Canucks defenceman and Nanaimo Clippers alum Jason Garrison is the honourary chairman for the event. He’ll be at the opening ceremonies set fro Friday before the Chiefs-Vees game and was part of the announcement at Rogers Arena held Aug. 14.

Also, there will be a Chapel Showcase gathering held Saturday at 6 p.m. at Prospera Centre as Chaplain Don Richmond offers details about the BCHL’s chapel program.

Finally, if you’re a parent attending the Showcase, don’t miss the scholastic seminars hosted by advisors Ross Beebe and Maryanne Mussel. They’ll be held in the media room at Prospera Centre at the following times.

Saturday, Sept 8: 2:00 p.m., 5:00 p.m.

Sunday, Sept. 9: 1:00 p.m.
