September 15, 2012, VICTORIA, B.C. – The University of Victoria Vikes women’s soccer team moved to 2-0-1 in the Canada West standings as they defeated the UNBC Timberwolves 10-0 on Sept. 15 at North Cariboo soccer fields. Second-year Emma Greig (Tofino, BC) scored her second hat trick of the season on the Timberwolves.
The Vikes women put the pressure on early earning a series of dangerous corner kicks but Vikes keeper Stephanie Parker (Chemainus, BC) and her back line was more than up to the challenge.
In the 15th minute, veteran Jacqueline Harrison (Whitehorse, YT) opened the scoring earning her first of the season with the assist credited to Amy Lawrence (Burnaby, BC). Midfielder Lindsay Hoetzel (Victoria, BC) netted her first of the season on an assist from Jaclyn Sawicki (Coquitlam, BC).
Hoetzel and rookie Sarah Douglas (London, ONT) netted a goal each before the break to end the first half in the lead 4-0.
Head coach Tracy David made several substitutes following the break including bringing on second-year Greig who scored only two minutes in to the second half.
