September 17, 2012, Kelowna, BC (ISN) – The Kelowna Rockets announce they have sent two players to the Vancouver Giants in exchange for a pair of Western Hockey League bantam draft picks.

The Rockets have traded second year forward Tanner Moar and defenceman Stewart Coyle to the Giants as the team trims its roster prior to the start of the WHL regular season this weekend.

In exchange the Rockets will receive a fourth round bantam draft pick in 2014 and a sixth round selection in 2015.

Rockets president and general manager Bruce Hamilton said the decision to move the players came down to a numbers game.

“We had extra bodies with the team and we are happy that we were able to find a place for Tanner and Stewart to play,” said Hamilton.

The Rockets closed out the WHL preseason on Saturday with an 8-1 win over Tri-City, ending the preseason at 2-2-0-2.

Kelowna opens the regular season on Friday night in Kamloops before its home opener on Saturday night in Kelowna, also against the Blazers.
