September 19, 2012, Victoria, BC – The Victoria Royals are excited to announce event details for the club’s 2012 home opener as presented by Connect Hearing this Saturday, September 22nd at Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre! Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
Tickets to Saturday’s contest are still available, but moving quickly! Tickets are available in-person at the Select Your Tickets Box Office, online at www.selectyourtickets.com or over the phone at (250)220-7777.
Fans at Saturday’s game will receive a Royals banner clapper courtesy of National Bank Financial Group upon entrance. Pre-game festivities will also include live piano entertainment by Skye Mundell, the 2011 winner of Vancouver Island’s Got Talent.
This year’s home opener is presented by Connect Hearing, Canada’s largest network of Registered Audiologists and professional Hearing Instrument Practitioners. Connect Hearing will be giving away hearing protection at their booth near Gate 1 of the main concourse throughout the game.
Brian Price of the silver medal-winning Canadian Men’s Eights rowing team from the London 2012 Olympics will be on hand to drop the ceremonial puck. The on-ice festivities prior to puck drop will also include a performance from “Mr. O’ Canada”, Mark Donnelly, who will sing our national anthem! Donnelly has become famous to hockey fans from coast-to-coast as the anthem singer for the Vancouver Canucks and is known for holding the microphone to the crowd and encouraging fans to sing along to ‘O’ Canada’. Donnelly will also be available for autographs and pictures at Royals’ Court during the first intermission.
Lucky fans in attendance will have the chance to win 2012-13 Victoria Royals season tickets as part of the Royals’ “This Seat Could Be Yours” season ticket test drive contest. A collection of seats still available for purchase this season will be marked with ballots on Saturday night for fans to fill out and win!
During the game, fans will be able to purchase tickets for the End of the Roll 50/50 draw and foam pucks for the Old House Village Chuck-A-Puck. Prizes for the evening’s Chuck-A-Puck will include packages courtesy of Old House Village, Connect Hearing and Big Fish Lodge as well as gift certificates supplied by Cabin 12, John’s Place, Brannigan’s, Cinecenta, Cherry Bomb Toys and Pets West. Proceeds from each contest will be donated to the Island Deaf and Hard of Hearing Centre (IDHHC), which provides counseling and support services to people dealing with hearing loss.
The first intermission will see young hockey players from Victoria Racquet Club participate in Tim Bits Minor Hockey presented by 100.3 The Q! Connect Hearing will also be sponsoring “Find the Marty” in the second intermission in which the winner will receive a set of Phonak Perfect Bass Audeo headphones ($120 value) and a prize package courtesy of Connect Hearing. Before fans leave the building, Old Dutch will be on hand to pass out product samples upon exit!
Doors will open at 6:05 p.m. for Saturday night’s home opener and fans are encouraged to arrive early for this busy game.
