South Island Royals Name Major Midget Roster

September 18, 2012, Victoria, BC – The South Island Royals are proud to announce their roster for the upcoming 2012-13 BC Major Midget League (BCMML) season.

South Island’s roster comes after nearly one month of player evaluations, practices and exhibition games. Representing the Royals will be two goaltenders, six defencemen and 12 forwards ranging from 15-17-years old. Featured on the inaugural South Island roster are players originating from five different minor hockey associations within the region. Victoria Racquet Club provided nine players to this year’s club while six came from Juan De Fuca Minor Hockey Association. Also represented are Saanich (3), Peninsula (1) and Cowichan Valley Minor Hockey Associations (1).

South Island will kick-off their 2012-13 BC Major Midget League home schedule with a series against the defending provincial champion Vancouver Northwest Giants. The first game will be played on Saturday, September 22nd at 12:00 p.m., followed by a morning game at 9:45 a.m. on Sunday, September 23rd. Both games will be played at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre.

After Saturday’s game, fans can watch the Western Hockey League (WHL) affiliate, the Victoria Royals, open their home season against the Vancouver Giants at Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre as puck drop is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
