Huskies Men’s Soccer Stay Undefeated

September 24, 2012, Saskatoon (ISN) – University of Saskatchewan rookie striker Divine Ebesoh tallied three goals in an 8-1 win over the visiting Mount Royal University Cougars Sunday on Field 7 in Saskatoon’s PotashCorp Park.

Ebesoh notched all three goals in the first half scoring in the 16th, 19th and 40th minutes. 2011 Canada West All-Star Brett Levis added two goals and three assists in the match, while midfielder Bobbi Nicholat added two goals and one in the tally of eight.

With the win, the Huskies remain undefeated on the season with a 4-0-1 record. Mount Royal, who joined the conference this season, isstill in search of their first CIS win at, 0-6.

Mount Royal finally found the net in the CIS season when Sean Colvin’s header found the net from Cody Cook’s free kick in the 81st minute. The Cougars also thought they had a goal in the eighth minute of the match. But Cook’s tally was called back on a foul.

After peppering their oppositions with 108 shots in the last five matches, the Huskies were able to capitalize. Saskatchewan tallied 25 shots in Sunday’s match. Mount Royal had just two.

Levis tallied first in the ninth minute, followed by two goals by Ebesoh. Nicholat notched his first in the 22nd minute, followed by Ebesoh’s final tally five minutes before half. Nicholat added his second in the 52nd minute, followed by Levis again in the 60th. Scott Myrah added the eighth goal of the day in the 73rd minute when he intercepted a Cougars pass.

Huskie keeper Mark Diakiw allowed just his third goal of the year in his fourth win this season, while Mount Royal keeper Kamil Zielinski made four saves at the other end of the pitch.

The Huskies visit the Fraser Valley Cascades and Victoria Vikes next weekend, while Mount Royal returns home to host the UBC Thunderbirds and Trinity Western Spartans.
