Manitoba goes 3-0-0 at 2nd Annual Mandi Schwartz Challenge

September 24, 2012, REGINA, Sask. – The University of Manitoba’s women’s hockey team was the only undefeated squad at the 2nd Annual Mandi Schwartz Challenge, a six-team tournament hosted by the University of Regina and the Saskatchewan Hockey Association at The Co-operators Centre.

The Bisons registered victories over Team Sask, the University of Regina, and the University of Saskatchewan to earn a perfect 3-0-0 record at the tournament, while UBC had victories over Saskatchewan and Balmoral Hall as the Thunderbirds ended up with a 2-1-0 mark.

The host Cougars were one of three teams with a 1-1-1 record, as they opened the tournament with a 3-2 win over UBC but lost 5-3 to Manitoba on Saturday and fell 3-2 to Team Sask in a shootout on Sunday. Team Sask and the University of Saskatchewan also had 1-1-1 marks, while Balmoral Hall ended the tournament with a 1-2-0 record.

The University of Regina’s non-conference schedule continues next weekend at a tournament hosted by the University of Lethbridge.
