September 25, 2012, Victoria, BC – The South Island Royals are proud to announce the team’s inaugural BC Major Midget regular season schedule in its entirety, beginning with a 2 game set against Fraser Valley Saturday and Sunday at Bear Mountain Arena.
This past weekend saw the team open their 2012-13 home schedule against the defending BC Major Midget Champion Vancouver Northwest Giants. South Island will continue their six-game home stand this weekend when they play two games against the Fraser Valley Thunderbirds at Bear Mountain Arena in Colwood, BC. The Royals will then host the Valley West Hawks the following weekend before they head out for their first round trip on October 13th to face the Greater Vancouver Canadians.
South Island’s longest home stretch will take place from January 27, 2012 until February 17th, 2012 when they host seven games at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre. The home stand starts with an all-island matchup on January 27th when the North Island Silvertips visit Victoria. The team will then host the Kootenay Ice on February 2nd and 3rd, the Okanagan Rockets on February 9th and 10th before concluding against the Thompson Blazers on February 16th and 17th.
The team’s longest period away from home will take place from October 21st until November 17th when they play nine games on the road. The road-stretch starts when the Royals travel up to Nanaimo, BC to play the Silvertips on October 21st. South Island will then face-off against the Vancouver NE Chiefs as well as the Ice, Rockets and Blazers.

South Island will now welcome the Fraser Valley Thunderbirds for a two game series next weekend. Game one will take place at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 29th while Game two will follow the next day with puck-drop slated for 9:30 a.m. Both games will take place at Bear Mountain Arena in Colwood, BC.
The BC Hockey Major Midget League provides elite level competition for 15, 16 and 17-year-old players in the province of British Columbia. It also provides players with the necessary development to play at the Major Junior and Junior A levels of hockey.
