Rockets Get First Win, Defeat Portland 4-3

September 30, 2012, Portland, OR – Myles Bell had two goals and Zach Franko scored the winner as the Kelowna Rockets defeated the Portland Winterhawks 4-3 on Saturday night in Portland.

The win was the first of the young WHL season for the Rockets, who earned a split of two games against the Winterhawks, the sixth ranked team in the CHL.

On Saturday night, Bell staked the Rockets to a 2-0 lead after the first period with a pair of markers, his second and third of the season.

Rookie defenceman Riley Stadel scored in the second period and the Rockets led 3-2 after two.

After Portland’s Tyler Wotherspoon tied the game at 3-3 in the third, Franko scored the winner with less than a minute to play to give the Rockets the win.

Portland edged Kelowna 1-0 on Friday in Portland.
