October 2, 2012, Victoria, BC – Canadian Sport Centre Pacific (CSC Pacific) is pleased to announce the creation of a professional position in honour of the late Dr. Gord Sleivert.
The position, the first staff role of its kind for the Canadian Sport Centre network, honours Dr. Sleivert’s desire to ensure that Canadian Sport Centre Pacific is providing better than world-class services to Canada’s high performance athletes and coaches. Through the initiative and support of B2ten, CSC Pacific will increase its professional service delivery with a position that encompasses both athletic therapy and strength and conditioning competencies.
Sandeep Nandhra, an athletic therapist, will be working with CSC Pacific’s medical lead and respective integrated support team members who work with multiple national teams and individual athletes. Nandhra will provide on-site management of medical and rehabilitative protocols as well as team and individual athlete support in the daily training environment and at training camps and competitions. This new role will be responsible for the provision of direct therapy support and medical program implementation to assigned targeted sports on behalf of Canadian Sport Centre Pacific. Nandhra is both a certified athletic therapist and a certified strength and conditioning specialist having attained a Bachelor of Athletic and Exercise Therapy as well as an Exercise and Wellness Diploma from Camosun College.
“Gord’s vision was to ensure we had a world class daily training environment,” said Wendy Pattenden, CEO of Canadian Sport Centre Pacific. “Collaborative initiatives, such as this one with B2ten, ensure the level of professional services required to fully support the needs of Canadian athletes.”
