Rugby Canada Hosts Men’s 7s Trial Camp

October 2, 2012, Shawnigan Lake, BC (ISN) – Over the September 28-30th weekend, Rugby Canada held a Men 7s trial camp at Shawnigan Lake School.  The camp was attended by experienced 7s players, some new to the series from 2011/2012 and a number of younger players.

This was the last camp prior to naming the team for the first stop on the IRB HSBC World Sevens Series at Gold Coast 7s October 13/14 which has 9 stops during 2012/2013 series : Australia, Dubia, South Africa, New Zealand, USA, Hong Kong, Japan, Scotland and England.

The players were put through their paces all weekend staring Friday there was a 40m sprint test, drills and then a few games to end the day.  Saturday they were sectioned off to their positions for drills then had an afternoon off before more games later in the afternoon.  Sunday was a recovery session along with video review.

The team was announced today and the list can be found on www.rugbycanada.ca the team is made up of their experienced players and younger players with two new players first time being named to the team.  Mike Fuailefau and Justin Douglas. 

The team leaves at the end of this week and we wish them the best while in Australia.
