October 3, 2012, Victoria, BC (ISN) – The Victoria Cougars look to bolster their win total when the Oceanside Generals come marching into town this Thursday. Game time at the Archie Browning Sports Centre, located at 1151 Esquimalt Road, is 7:00 p.m.

Victoria (8-0-1) goes for its ninth win of the season and third in a row.

Thursday marks the second of four meetings between the Cougars and Oceanside.

Back on September 15, Victoria downed the Generals 6-2 in Parksville. Nathan Chen-Mack led the assault with a pair of goals while Brody Coulter, David Marshall, Mark Walton, and Rhys Williams each chipped in with singles. Rookie goaltender Michael Herringer turned aside 20-of-22 shots for the win.

Cam McCarrick and Will McNamara replied for Oceanside. Tending goal was Joshua Alalouf who made 33 saves in a losing effort.

The two teams do not meet again until January 17, 2013.

Victoria made it two in a row following its 3-2 win over the Campbell River Storm last Friday. Lighting the lamp for Victoria was Jake Stolz with his first goal of the season, Marshall, and Walton.

Herringer stopped 19 shots for his third win.

Sam Rice and Dane Feeney have recorded at least a point in each of their last nine games.

Oceanside (3-5-1) tries to avoid a third straight loss.

Last Saturday, the Generals lost 4-2 to the Westshore Wolves. Ethan Larson and McCarrick scored for Oceanside. Kiefer Giroux, who won VIJHL Player of the Week honours for the period ending Sep. 24, dropped to 2-3-0 on the season.

Despite the loss, the Generals trail the first-place Comox Valley Glacier Kings by only two points in the North Island Division.

Oceanside has scored 23 goals and allowed 23 goals in five road games while scoring five goals and allowing 12 goals in four home games.

McCarrick, who is riding a seven game point streak, leads all General scorers with six goals and two assists.
