October 3, 2012, Victoria (ISN) – Island Sports News is pleased to announce that our Editor, photographer and reporter Christian J. Stewart will be taking on the role of Director of Communications and Photography with the Victoria Baseball Club, the city’s yet to be named baseball franchise that will play in the West Coast League starting in June 2013 at Royal Athletic Park.

Stewart will be responsible for day-to-day club communications including press releases, game summaries and related media activities, will help develop and oversee web and other social media content and will provide all photographic services for the team.

“I am very pleased to see Christian afforded this opportunity,” said ISN Owner Scott Harrigan. “He has worked tirelessly with me over the last two years to help build ISN into a leader in the provision of local and amateur sports news and information and I know he will bring that same passion and dedication to the Baseball Club.”

Stewart will continue in his role as ISN Editor until the new year at which time it is expected that he will transition into more of a full time role with the Baseball Club as they ramp up to their season launch in early June.

Stewart will also continue on in a reporting and photographic capacity for ISN, as he has done for the past many years. “Chris will continue to provide coverage of a range of sports for us on a regular basis,” adds Harrigan. “Fans of his work will not be disappointed, as his stories and photographs will continue to be a part of the great sports content we continue to provide on the site.”

“I am very excited for this opportunity and appreciate the flexibility and understanding of Scott and ISN to let me pursue it,” says Stewart. “Those that know me well, know that baseball is a long-time passion of mine. I have played the game, coached the game and of course photographed the game, and now to have the opportunity to work with the Victoria Baseball Club, in a league as prominent at the West Coast League, is amazing. I can’t wait to get started.”
