Kudos to the entire Rams Offensive Line for a brilliant performance, opening up some great running lanes for the Rams backfield and allowing Ashton ample time to throw the football….awesome job Zach Wilkinson, Christian Krause, Peter Allan, Peter Elwood, Matt Power and Aarmin Purewal.
On the defensive side of the ball, there were numerous standout performances against the talented Van College offense. Leading tackler was James Nicholas with 11 tackles, followed by Julian Luis with 7 tackles. Sasha Shurvin created havoc in the Irish backfield throughout the contest registering 2 sacks in addition to his 5 tackles. Trevor Ridley also had 5 tackles, while Marcus Davis was the “Wolf of the Week” with the first turnover of the game with an interception. Sean Waugh had his best game of the year with a multiple tackle game and an interception of his own.
Special Teams played a pivotal role in the game, as the Rams had 6 kickoff returns for 258 yards including 193 yards and a touchdown from Marcus Davis on 3 returns. Mason Swift had 2 critical blocks of Van College convert attempts.
Next up is a battle of last year’s Subway Bowl as the Rams travel to the mainland to battle the Maleek Irons and the high powered Mouat Hawks on Saturday. Game time is either 1:30 pm or 2:15 pm…stay tuned!
