October 7, 2012, Vernon, BC – The West Kelowna Warriors played an excellent road game on Saturday night, but fell 2-1 in Overtime to the Vernon Vipers.

After a lopsided victory over Trail on Friday, the Warriors were looking to begin a streak and also continue their offensive outburst.

However, as is typical at the Wesbild Centre, goals were tough to come by on Saturday.

The Vipers scored the lone goal of the first period when Adam Tambellini intercepted a Warriors clearance and beat Tyler Briggs with a powerful snapper.

After a scoreless second period, West Kelowna finally got on the board thanks to Seb Lloyd breakaway marker early in the third.

The Warriors continued to buzz, out-chancing the Vipers and outshooting them 34-31 overall.

However, 4:11 into the first overtime frame Colton Sparrow played hero when he collected his own rebound and beat Tyler Briggs up high.

Speaking after the game, a frustrated Seb Lloyd said his team is delighted with its performance. He admits the finishing touch eluded his club, but says it wasn’t for a lack of chances.

“I think we’re really happy with the way we played defensively” Lloyd began. “Even offensively, we’re happy with the way we played … it was just a matter of the puck not finding the back of the net tonight.”

The Warriors now sit in third place in the BCHL’s Interior Conference. Their next action is a home-and-home set vs. Langley next weekend.
