October 10, 2012, Victoria, BC – Four members of the Victoria Mariners Premier baseball team are heading off this week to the annual Fall Classic in Arizona. Players Chris Fougner, Brendan Somers, Colton Wood and Morgan Varley were selected to the Diamondbacks Team BC Scout Team, led by Canadian Arizona Diamondbacks scout, Doug Mathieson who is also the coach of the highly successful Langley Blaze Premier team on the Lower Mainland.

The Fall Classic is pegged as the top tournament in the west and is attended by over 450 college and professional baseball scouts.

“This tournament is by invite only and has seen 61% of the current North American MLB players attend,” says Mathieson. “Almost all B.C. players drafted over the last 12 years have attended this showcase.”
