Sponsors Needed to Support Elite Team

October 11, 2012, Victoria, BC – The Victoria Racquet Club Bantam AAA hockey club is off to another successful start and are gearing up to host the 40th annual Rick LaPointe Memorial Tournament.  They are looking for support and sponsors for their 2012-2013 season.

The Victoria Racquet Club Minor Hockey Association’s Bantam Tier 1 Team is currently asking for sponsorship from various local businesses to help fund their season’s expenses. The team consists of 1999 and 1998 born players who will represent their club at the highest level at various competitive tournaments on and off the island. All funds raised will go towards tournaments, travel and team gear. The team will also be hosting the 40rth annual Rick LaPointe Memorial Tournament.

The Rick LaPointe Memorial Tournament will host some of the top 13 and 14 year old hockey players from Western Canada and Washington State. This event will take place Victoria from Dec. 6 to Dec. 9, 2012 for the premier Bantam Tier 1 hockey event of the season for greater Victoria. Hosted at the University of Victoria’s Ian Stewart Complex, the tournament will be an opportunity for local Bantam AAA players to compete against some of the best in their age group. Watchful eyes are likely to be keeping close tabs and taking notes on some of the young prospects and this tournament will be an opportunity for players and teams to showcase their talent in the hopes that prospective senior teams will stand up and take notice in what is expected to be a highly competitive tournament.

As the host team, this year’s Victoria Racquet Club Bantam AAA squad will also be looking to use this opportunity to establish itself in the ranks of the bantam AAA minor hockey hierarchy of the Province. This will be a tall task for the local team as the many challenges, ranging from funding to the accessibility of players, demand extraordinary commitment and creativity from the team, coaches, parents and the association.

For the players, doing what they enjoy and working hard at it, go hand in hand and the task of channeling and focusing that energy and enthusiasm falls to the VRC Bantam AAA coaching crew. The Kings are very fortunate to have a talented group in that respect with a coaching staff whose experience combined with a background in teaching and playing hockey at a high level provide the necessary tools to help guide the players, improve their understanding of the game and to realize their potential. Not surprisingly, parents’ involvement and support are crucial in ensuring the success of the hockey program at the Victoria Racquet Club, and a committed group of Bantam AAA parents work tirelessly for the benefit of the team. Finally, the association and it’s members continue to work to develop and enhance a program that aims to provide young hockey players the opportunity to take advantage of all the best that organized sport has to offer.

The fact remains of course, that moving onto bigger things in hockey will be realized by only a few, and for many of the players these may well be the most exciting, competitive and memorable years in their hockey careers. Building on the young players’ enthusiasm and passion for the game of hockey the VRC program aims to help develop confidence and character, and instill a strong sense of team and community spirit in all players representing the association, regardless of where the future may lead them.
