October 12, 2012 – Burnaby, B.C. – The Simon Fraser University Men’s Ice Hockey program is pleased to announce a commitment from forward Aaron Buat (Kelowna, BC) to attend SFU and join the team for the second half of the 2012/13 British Columbia Intercollegiate Hockey League season.

Buat previously spent two seasons with Okanagan College, and led the 2011/12 Coyotes to a franchise best 16-4-4 record as the team’s captain. He finished the season with 36 points in 23 games, as well as adding four points in three playoff games. Prior to joining the BCIHL, Buat played three seasons with the Sicamous Eagles of the KIJHL.

“Aaron is going to bring that big physical presence we need at the center position and we expect him to step right in,” says SFU Head Coach Mark Coletta. “Anytime you can add a former captain of any team and a big body up the middle you make your hockey club better.”

Buat will not be in the SFU lineup until the January 2013 as he goes through the admissions process with SFU. He is the ninth player to join the SFU squad this season.
