Ty Rattie Scores Four to Lead Portland Over Swift Current

October 13, 2012, Swift Current, SK – Ty Rattie had four goals as the Portland Winterhawks (7-3-1-0) wrapped up their six-game trip through the East Division with a 6-3 win against the Swift Current Broncos (4-2-3-1) Saturday.

The victory wraps up a terrific trip for the Hawks, who went 4-1-1-0, picking up nine of a possible 12 points.

The Broncos got on the board first with a power play goal 2:17 into the game from Adam Lowry. But the Hawks responded with three straight goals, beginning with a goal from Oliver Bjorkstrand at the 8:01 mark. Portland then got power play goals from Rattie and Nic Petan later in the first as they took a 3-1 lead into the second period.

Lowry got Swift Current back within one at the 13:54 mark of the second to make it 3-2, but later in the period Rattie scored his second of the game to give Portland a 4-2 lead after two periods.

The Broncos again got within one 4:17 into the third with a goal from Coda Gordon to cut Portland’s lead to 4-3. But again Rattie responded, scoring the hat trick goal at the 13:21 mark to put the Hawks back up by two, 5-3, and added his fourth of the game at the 16:56 mark to make it 6-3, which would stand as the final.

Rattie added an assist to finish with five points for the game. Petan added three points, While Chase De Leo, Taylor Leier and Derrick Pouliot each had two points.

Brendan Burke earned the win in net, with 28 saves on 31 shots. Landon Bow took the loss, allowing six goals on 33 Portland shots.

The Hawks were outstanding on the power play, scoring three goals with the man advantage. They were 3-4 on the penalty kill.


The Hawks are now off until next Saturday, when they host the Seattle Thunderbirds at 7 p.m. at the Rose Garden.
