October 20, 2012, PRINCE ALBERT, SK – The Everett Silvertips improved to 3-2 on their East Division road trip and built their first winning streak of the season with a 3-2 win over the Prince Albert Raiders Friday night at the Art Hauser Centre.

After holding off the Raiders in the final seconds, the Silvertips now stand at 4-7-0-1 overall with the finale of their road trip coming Saturday in Saskatoon.

Josh Winquist scored a goal and set up two others to lead the way for the Silvertips while taking over the team lead in scoring. Ryan Harrison netted the game-winning goal against his former team and Manraj Hayer also scored for Everett. Landon Oslanski tacked on two assists and Daniel Cotton stopped 32 shots to earn his second consecutive victory in goal.

Prince Albert got the game’s first goal just after a powerplay ended as Leon Draisaitl jammed in the rebound of a Mike Winther shot at 5:12 of the first period. The ‘Tips drew even just three minutes later as Manraj Hayer and Josh Winquist perfectly executed a 2-on-1 rush with quick passing that resulted in Hayer’s tap-in at the goal mouth. The Raiders outshot Everett 13-9 in the first and the game was tied at one through 20 minutes.

The Silvertips took their first lead early in the middle frame on their second powerplay of the night. As Landon Oslanski’s point shot bounced off the end boards, Josh Winquist picked up the puck and snuck a quick wrist shot into the top corner over Luke Siemens’ shoulder for his sixth goal of the year. Everett increased the lead with another powerplay goal at 13:19 when Ryan Harrison one-timed a Winquist pass into the net from the slot. Prince Albert trimmed the lead in the last 90 seconds of the stanza however as Mark McNeill put a perfect shot into the top corner of Daniel Cotton’s net, making it 3-2 Everett after two.

The Raiders pushed harder as the third period went along, but the ‘Tips maintained the lead into the final seconds. Then after Davis Vandane’s shot was blocked in the slot, Anthony Bardaro found the loose puck and backhanded it into the net just as the horn sounded to end the game. Video review of the play showed that time expired prior to the puck entering the net, confirming Everett’s 3-2 victory.

Daniel Cotton improves to 3-2 this season with the win as Prince Albert outshot the Silvertips 34-28 in total. Former Everett goaltender Luke Siemens stopped 25 shots for the Raiders in defeat. The ‘Tips scored on two of their six powerplay opportunities and held the Raiders scoreless on two chances.

The Silvertips will now head to Saskatoon for the final game of their East Division road swing Saturday night against the Blades. Opening faceoff is set for 6:05 pm Pacific Time, with pregame radio coverage starting at 5:30 on Fox Sports 1380 AM. The ‘Tips will then return home to Everett for a pair of home games next weekend, Friday against the Spokane Chiefs and then Saturday vs. the Seattle Thunderbirds in our fourth annual “Pink the Rink” game.
